How to run a periodic task on Wordpress?

WordPress is a free and open-source content management system (CMS). It was originally created as a blog-publishing system but has evolved to support other web content types including more traditional mailing lists and forums, media galleries, membership sites, learning management systems (LMS) and online stores. It is one of the most popular content management system solutions in use, WordPress is used by 42.8% of the top 10 million websites as of October 2021.

When using that application, you may face the need to run periodic jobs within this platform. To achieve that, there are multiple solutions.

Schedule in Wordpress

By default, Wordpress does not have a feature that allows you to schedule recurring taĉhes to run at a regular interval. However, you can add this functionality by installing plugins, such as Wp-Cron.

Schedule with Cronit

However, it is also possible to schedule tasks through the use of an external product, such as Cronit. All you have to do is create an account in our application and select "New Cron". Once this step is done, you will be able to define tasks to be executed periodically, calling any HTTP endpoint defined on your Wordpress site.
